At times they can seem a bit pricey compared to the chain mechanics but I'm more then willing to pay the extra price. The care that they give when thoroughly looking at your vehicle as well as the time they put into explaining what's wrong and your options is priceless. I'm from NYC and was always skeptical when it came to mechanics but the guys at Scruggs have completely made me feel good about every vehicle decisions I've had to make and I don't regret one penny spent there.

Thanks Rosemarie. We appreciate your review

Update below-- I took my car in for a brake pad change and they showed me an estimate of $900+ when it should only cost about $250. My rotors are fine and my lines are fine. Don't believe the reviews that say they are honest and charge a fair price. Update in response to the owner: I appreciate your response but I do not think it accurately describes the situation. I took my vehicle to another shop and was present when they inspected my brake system. While the back pads were very thin as you described, the front pads were at 5/16" thickness, which is well above the replacement level between 1/8" and 3/16". The rotors were in fair condition and not warped past acceptable tolerances. Even if all the pads and rotors needed replacing, the quoted price was well above what most other shops charge.

Anthony. I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. I just talked to my team at the shop and they remember your vehicle. The brake rotors were warped causing a pulsation in the brake pedal. Both the front and rear pads were very thin. We take a lot of pride in our service and we will not do a job "half way". If we would have just changed your pads you still would have had the same pulsating feeling and the job wouldn't be done correctly. Please feel free to contact me and I would be happy to put your vehicle on the lift and show you our concerns with your brakes and take you for a test ride to explain better why we wanted to change the pads and rotors. Again please contact me so we can make this right by you.

I work with auto repair shops on a daily basis and this is where I take my vehicles for repairs. They only do what needs to be done and they do a good job. Honesty is big for me and I feel comfortable here.

Honesty is our number one policy. Thanks Ron

Always go to them even though they're a little out of my way. My parents trust them with their cars and I have trusted them with mine for the last 7 year's. Going there this week to get some work done.

I have been going to Jeff and his crew for years and they have always done honest and quality work. Most recently I had a ridiculous noise coming from what I thought was suspension. Turned out it was something completely different and they fixed it(based solely on me making poor sound effects verbally to describe it). The car rides like new now and the price was incredibly fair. People in my family have been in the car business for years and they swear by Jeff and his crew. BY FAR the most honest and professional mechanics anywhere in the Northtowns. If you or a friend needs a mechanic, these are the guys you want under your car. Never any surprise charges or ridiculous labor costs and the best part is that they use NAPA parts, so you know it isn't a hunk of junk from some online discount site.

After searching for a good, honest mechanic for years, I have finally found one: Scruggs Auto Shop. Their service is quick and professional. Last 2 times I went there, Jeff and the team went above and beyond to repair our cars. They genuinely want to take care of your car, and there are none of hidden agenda or extra fees. I used to dread taking my car to a mechanic, but now I don't. I simply trust these guys and I will recommend them to all my family and friends.

Honest, Professional, and Quick. Jeff and the team at Scruggs are the best mechanics around! I love going there to have them fix, check up and do work on my bagged Volkswagen golf. Prices are very reasonable!

Jeff and crew are the epitome of customer service and honest, clear, and dependable. They remind me of what my grandparents would call "the good old days"; you feel taken care of after working with them. I had a slew of issues with my vehicle and they worked with me on finding solutions for my budget and timetable. I have had experiences in the past where, in hindsight, it was clear that my happy-go-lucky nature and trust were taken advantage of, and it was refreshing to experience the opposite of that with Scruggs Auto! 5 stars :)
